Soho Arts Co. is a woman-owned business in the east end of downtown Hyannis. They opened in 2007 and sell home goods, gifts, jewelry, and some apparel.

They recently invested in a brand-new ecommerce site, as well as new store fixtures. They have been working with someone on a very part-time basis to execute their social media strategy, however, would like to increase its frequency, get new photography for the website and upload more of the store’s inventory to the website. Additionally, the shop’s owner, Betsy, is struggling to merchandise her large windows for maximum exposure and attraction.

"My online sales have been growing since using Emily Abraham, the social media consultant, and the Business Boost Program can be credited for that improvement. The added lighting at night gives my shop much more exposure. It also looks great for the street and adds to the security and safety of Main Street."

IDENTIFIED CHALLENGES AND PRIORITIES:

  1. Investment in additional social media support to increase online exposure and sales from the website.
  2. Engage with someone to provide photography and inventory management for the e-commerce site.
  3. Work with someone on the best way to merchandise and make displays for the big picture windows of the shop.

COMPLETED PRIORITIES:

  1. Worked with a social media consultant to increase posting frequency, and take new photographs for both social media and online store use.
  2. Added additional lighting to front of shops in order to light up windows and highlight the window displays, as well as brighten that end of Main Street at night.

The Local Business Boost Program started in 2022 and is currently a partnership between Love Live Local and the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District. Additional funding is being sought to take the program to other local businesses across Cape Cod.
