Local Business Boost Program 2023 Grant Recipient: Country Soul

A retail store carrying country and western clothing for men, women, and children, including clothing, boots, hats, jewelry, and accessories. We also have an online store, using the product directly from our store. The store, which is owned by Debra Palino and opened in 2016, also has an ecommerce site that is operated internally.

Although they have a functioning online presence, they would love to increase it and increase their sales online on their Shopify site. They get orders from all over the country, but they have no idea how the customers found them. They also expressed frustration with their lighting system as it is inefficient and fades their clothes. And Debra would like to learn how to use Quickbooks effectively so she can be confident about her records.

A great experience all around. Love Live Local has been a great support and a huge help. They put me in direct contact with Cape Light Compact and they put energy saving lights throughout the shop, which is a huge win for us.

  1. Enlist an ecommerce expert to audit their website, boost their SEO and track how people are finding them, as well as engage with a social media strategist to develop a plan for them to execute.

  2. Connect with Cape Light Compact for an energy audit and identifying incentive available for lighting retrofits.

  3. Look into Quickbooks training, specifically for retail.

  1. Enlisted Harlowe Creative to perform a site audit, and connected with Delude Communications to create and carry out a social media strategy for four months.
  2. Cape Light Compact conducted an energy audit and updated their lighting to be more energy efficient.
  3. Signed up for a Quickbooks course through Cape Cod Community College.

The Local Business Boost Program started in 2022 and is currently a partnership between Love Live Local and the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District. Additional funding is being sought to take the program to other local businesses across Cape Cod.
