LOCAL BUSINESS BOOST PROGRAM NARRATIVE CASE STUDY

Islands
585 Main Street, Hyannis

Sheila and David expressed the need to upgrade the interior of the store to bring new life and brightness and enhance the customer experience. They specifically pointed to the store’s carpet that has been in place for over 25 years, as well as the interior lighting and light fixtures. Additionally, their exterior signage could use some improvements.

"We were in the middle of dealing with their other store in FL which was damaged during the recent hurricane and Amanda was outstanding with communication and making sure things fell into place with Cape Cod Carpet in Hyannis. The new carpet has given the store a much-needed new and fresh look."

Sheila Stagman, co-owner Islands

IDENTIFIED CHALLENGES AND PRIORITIES:

  1. Connect Sheila and David with local flooring companies to get at least two quotes for the replacement of their carpet before summer.
  2. Check with property owner to see if exterior façade improvements are in process. If not, identify a sign company that can make desired improvements to their exterior signage.
  3. Connect the Stagmans with Cape Light Compact for an updated energy assessment that could be attached to new incentives for replacing fixtures, etc.

COMPLETED PRIORITIES:

  1. Carpets of Cape Cod replaced carpet throughout the store.
  2. Facade improvements planned by property owner for Fall 2023.
  3. Connected the Stagmans with Cape Light Compact.

The Local Business Boost Program started in 2022 and is currently a partnership between Love Live Local and the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District. Additional funding is being sought to take the program to other local businesses across Cape Cod.
