Some local businesses are known for their strong customer service, some are known for their dedication to the natural environment, some for their encouragement and support of other local businesses, and some are known for their commitment to local nonprofit organizations.
Cottage in Orleans is one of those local businesses that is known to do all of these. Owner Aline Lindeman, always goes out of her way to meet her customers’ needs and be available to them, and to her vendors, for whatever questions they may have, and makes a point to maintain a strong connection with them online, even during the winter months when the shop is closed. An artist herself, she is a supporter of local artists and artisans in and out of her retail store, helping them realize their potential and gain confidence. She is a champion of sustainability featuring vintage apparel and home accessories in her shop.
According to her nominator, Stephanie Reeve, Aline “has been a wonderful collaborator and mentor to many and supports the local community in many ways, including by facilitating the annual Cods for the Cape auction with proceeds going to The Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance.”
Every month, along with The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, we share stories from across Cape Cod about how our local businesses do more for this community than simply provide goods and services and why shopping with them is more than just a single transaction.
