Local businesses not only go above and beyond for the community – giving to local causes and stepping up in times of crisis – but they also do the same for their fellow local businesses when they need it. Apt Cape Cod in Brewster experienced this dedication firsthand when they had a massive electrical problem at their restaurant at the same time they were supposed to be preparing for a 70th birthday brunch. That’s where ACK Gioia, a cheese and sandwich shop located just down the street, stepped in. The ACK Gioia mother- daughter team Elizabeth and Alex Hitchcock, opened up their space to their neighbors, so they could still host the birthday party – which the owners of Apt (who also make it a habit of cheering loudly for other local businesses) say truly embodies the mantra “your success is our success” and the spirit of community on Cape Cod.
Every month, along with The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, we’ll be sharing stories from across Cape Cod about how our local businesses do more for this community than simply provide goods and services and why shopping with them is more than just a single transaction.
