The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted so many individuals, families, organizations + businesses on Cape Cod. We know that many in our local community need financial assistance at this time. We also know that many in our community want to offer a helping hand. Here are some local, Cape-wide, relief efforts to check out whether you want to give or need to receive.
Cape Cod & Islands Major Crisis Relief Fund is a disaster response organization that provides humanitarian aid to local individuals and families. Their services include financial aid for food, housing, transportation, and medical/mental healthcare.
The Family Pantry of Cape Cod is dedicated to serving those in need of food, clothing and housewares. During the Covid-19 crisis, their focus is on food distribution only.
The Cape Cod Family Table Collaborative provide’ delicious and nutritious prepared meals for hospitality industry families in need during this virus shut down; with an emphasis on providing those meals on Fridays to carry people through the weekends when safety net meal services on the Cape are unavailable.
Faith Family Kitchen serves hot, nutritious meals to Cape Cod’s food-insecure neighbors three evenings a week at their community kitchen in Hyannis.
Cape Kids Meals supplements the work of the local school districts who provide meals to students in need during the week by providing food insecure children with food over the weekends during the school year.
Housing Assistance has established the Cape Cod COVID-19 Workforce Housing Relief Fund to provide urgent and ongoing assistance with past due rent or mortgage payments or other housing-related expenses for current, year-round Cape Cod and Island residents who are losing income due to the coronavirus.
Vinegrass launched the Cape Cod Gig Relief Fund to help musicians and sound engineers on Cape Cod replace some of their lost gig wages.
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod’s Cape Cod Arts Relief Fund provides grants to individual artists facing a financial burden caused by the impact of COVID-19
The Cape Cod Foundation‘s Strategic Emergency Response Fund will provide funding to support the continued operation of vital Cape Cod nonprofit organizations and cultural institutions.
The Cape & Islands United Way ‘s Community Response Fund provides much needed funds to local nonprofits providing access to basic needs – food, shelter, emergency assistance – across Cape Cod.
The Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation General Fund gives the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod, the flexibility to specifically address pressing needs whether they be supplies and equipment, employee assistance, facility and staff expansions, and supporting other healthcare initiatives on Cape Cod.
To help the Cape Cod Service Industry – food and beverage professionals severely impacted by restaurants closing or shifting to takeout only – you can “tip” a local bartender through Venmo with this service – a local bartender or waitstaff will be chosen at random.
This list represents Cape-wide efforts to help our island through the Covid-19 crisis. If you have a favorite nonprofit or a more hyper local initiative close to your heart, we encourage you to continue to support those as well as these if you are able.
