We love when two small businesses in our shop local network connect to make artistic magic! That is just what happened at last year’s LoveLocal Fest :: Holiday Edition when John Miller from J Miller Picture Framer & Gallery saw the work from Barnwood and Bangles.
John Miller has been framing everything from photographs and artwork to sports jerseys and family memorabilia, so when he saw the home décor made from salvaged wood by mother, father, husband and wife team that makes up Barnwood & Bangles he immediately saw an opportunity for collaboration.
“I was attracted to all the clever things Erin and her team make from odds and ends of salvaged wood. Fish, whales, lobsters…a shark with nice white teeth. I love framing unusual 3-dimensional items in ways that make them dramatic or even more “artsy.” What Barnwood and Bangles creates was just perfect for this. Erin and I struck up a conversation, and I bought several pieces…took them to my shop, came up with a few different designs and there we are!”
John’s customers loved them too, and he has received several special orders. And as John so aptly stated, “this is the great thing about local businesses getting creative not only with what they make, but how they can work together to create or expand new markets and opportunities.”
