Sarah and Gregory (Marty) Martin’s connection to the Cape brought them here to live full time in 2012, and started their own Real Estate Team. They quickly became engaged in the Cape Cod community to grow their business but to also support others. They are fixtures at our festivals and other community events, and we suspect you will be hard pressed to find more enthusiastic and passionate community members. In this month’s Chat with a Local, we ask them to share why they love Cape Cod, the best parts of living here and their thoughts on shopping local.
Tell us about your connection to the Cape and about your business/profession.
We work as a Realtor Team for Kinlin Grover Real Estate out of the Yarmouth Port office. Sarah grew up spending summers on the Cape at her family cottage in Harwich before moving here full time after college. Marty grew up on the South Shore and spent many summers vacationing on the Cape with family and friends. We both left Massachusetts at different points in our lives and ended up in Colorado, where we met and spent 5 years together. In 2012 we made the decision to move home to the Cape. We wanted to be closer to family and follow in Sarah’s parent’s footsteps and start our own Real Estate Team. We have a passion for working and helping people through the process of buying or selling a home.
What do you love about the Cape Cod community?
One of the first organizations we came across when we moved to the Cape was Cape Cod Young Professionals. Many people think that there is a lack of young people living year-round on the Cape, but CCYP proves that’s not the case. We have met a tremendous amount of business connections as well as made meaningful relationships and great friends. It’s been so nice to see a group like this come together not only to network but to help each other grow their businesses to make this place more sustainable for people of all ages.
Not to be cheesy, but we love you ladies and Love Live Local! It’s been amazing to watch you grow over the years and see that you have built such a strong sense of community. We love attending the many LoveLocal Fests whether it be outside in the summer months enjoying the music and vendors or the Holiday Festival shopping for local gifts.
What are some of the best parts of living here?
There are so many great things about the Cape! We are grateful to live by such gorgeous beaches and enjoy them year round whether we are swimming in the summer, walking the dog in the winter or watching breathtaking sunsets anytime. We love all of the local shops and restaurants; there are so many fantastic options to choose from. Living here gives us the opportunity to visit all of the towns and villages the Cape has to offer and there is always something new to explore!
Why do you think it is important to shop local?
To help our local entrepreneurs grow their businesses and be sustainable all year round. This in turn creates more jobs and opportunities all over the Cape. When you shop local, you are helping those business owners and their families continue to thrive on Cape Cod. The more money we spend here locally the stronger our economy will be.
Describe your ideal Cape Cod day.
Our favorite time of the year is Fall. Our ideal day would be in September when the weather is still warm enough to go to the beach. We would wake up and take our dog, Talulah, and our daughter Liv on a hike around Hatchways Pond. We would grab lunch at one of our favorite spots before heading to the beach to relax and take in the post summer calmness. Dinner would be a BBQ with family and friends before heading out to see some local music to end the day.
