There have been many examples of local organizations stepping up to support the Cape Cod community in a variety of ways throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and Cape Cod Broadcasting is no exception.
When so much was unknown about the public health crisis we were facing not only did the Cape Cod Broadcasting News Center share relevant and timely news through daily on-air newscasts, a dedicated content section on CapeCod.com, and through the weekly Sunday Journal public affairs podcast, but the news team hosted ongoing calls with Cape Cod Healthcare and the Barnstable County Health and Environment Director, in order to convey up-to-the-minute local public health information.
But their work did not stop there. Through its radio stations Ocean 104.7, 99.9 the Q, Cape Classical 107.5 and Cape Country 104 they shared information from local nonprofits helping those in ned and celebrated “Everyday Heroes” by sharing stories from listeners about health care workers, delivery people, first responders, teachers, and neighbors going above and beyond for others during the pandemic.

And as a locally owned and operated business themselves Cape Cod Broadcasting knows how important it is to support local businesses and they did so through a range of programs, including donating over $370,000 in free advertising to budget constrained clients, sharing “Feel Good Business Stories” of businesses doing great things, and created a dedicated restaurant page on CapeCod.com featured links to restaurants open for takeout, curbside pickup or delivery. As their General Sales Manager, Melinda Baker noted, “our local clients are a critical part of the fabric of the Cape Cod community. Supporting them through difficult times is an important responsibility of being a collaborative business partner, neighbor, and friend.”
They have also been a good friend to Love Live Local, using their resources to help us spread the word about our virtual events, share the stories of small businesses and raise money for the Cape Cod Resilience Fund.
And, along with Mid-Cape Home Centers they will once again run their Christmas Wishes program where they match families in need with Cape Codders who want to make sure they celebrate the holidays in a way they deserve.
Cape Cod Broadcasting is a shining example of what it means to be a dedicated community partner, and it is so important to highlight and celebrate their efforts – to foster positivity and pride – as we continue down this challenging road as a community.
