The Cape Cod Art Center is celebrating their 70th year of promoting the creation and appreciation of visual art by providing a supportive environment for education and exhibitions.
Formerly called the Cape Cod Art Association, CCAC was established in 1948 and was originally located in downtown Hyannis. It was founded by several artists, led by Dr Fritz Talbot, who wanted to open an art gallery for exhibits and a space for artists to gather and host classes. The only other art association at the time was in Provincetown.
CCAC is a non-profit membership group that serves it’s nearly 1000 members and community with a variety of art programs and events and features a gift shop, two galleries for monthly exhibitions, and two studios for classes and workshops.
To celebrate it’s 70th, the Center has hosted special events and exhibits throughout the year. June’s exhibits include 1986-1999 One Center, Many Artists and One Building, Many Artists (a 70-year artist retrospective) with a public reception on Friday, June 22 from 6-8pm. They are also hosting a “Birthday Bash” on July 7 from 2-6pm…we hope to see you there!
