We’re super excited about this weekend’s Truro Ag Fair celebrating agriculture, aquaculture, fishing and farming. This charming Truro tradition is hosted by Sustainable CAPE, whose mission is to celebrate local food while teaching about the health of our community and environment, striving to educate and empower individuals to become agents of change – thereby creating a decidedly more sustainable world.
The fair is free and open to the public and includes a harvest contest (Longest cucumber? Strangest veggie? Tallest Sunflower?), a pie-eating contest, a pie-baking contest and a barnyard beauty contest where you can bring your farm animal to compete for a blue ribbon. You won’t want to miss the BYO-zucchini racecar race (Zucchini 500)! Enjoy fiddler music throughout the day, kids’ games, arts and crafts, turnip and rutabaga bowling, bake sale, silent auction and much more.
We’re especially excited to check out the Harvest Market showcasing local honey (and bees!), lobster, Eastham turnips, clams and oysters, fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, wool, baked goods, coffee, sea salt, cheese, pasta, meat, ice cream, crepes and more.
Sustainable CAPE hosts this super fun, family-friendly event to educate and inspire locals to connect with their history, preserve their future and engage with one another to create a sustainable future on our precious sandbar.
