Local potters Hollis Engley and Kimberly Jane Sheerin have created a warm, welcoming sanctuary at their Pocasset (Bourne) studio and “shed gallery” that is worth a visit.
New work can be found in the shed every few weeks. Hollis’ functional pots and tea bowls are clearly influenced by the simplicity and organic forms of Japanese, Korean and English country pottery, while Kim’s work reflects a highly decorative, global inspiration – some of her “pots with a purpose” even tell the stories of social issues around the world.
Outside of the gallery, the new spiral garden: a sweet place for people to rest, center themselves and enjoy the plants, pots, and soon … sunflowers!
Kim teaches wheel-throwing and hand-building year round to both adults and children. Check out summertime Kids’ Clay Workshops like Monster Pots and Fish Dishes! She also teaches adult classes every Monday and Tuesday evening – and the studio is perfect for birthday parties.
