Check out the second installment of our favorite seasonal spots that are calling your name while the days are still warm and the beaches are still bustling.
Onset’s Quahog Republic Waterfront Eatery is a fabulous spot to soak up the summer sun for raw bar specials on Tuesdays or live music on Sundays. Follow the tunes during your Sunday Funday to Hemisphere Restaurant in Sandwich for a cocktail and one of the most impressive views on the Cape. Cruise through Barnstable Village and grab lunch from the casual take-out window at Osterville Fish Too or head next door to the Mattakeese Wharf to drink and dine overlooking the Barnstable Harbor. Head down Phinney’s Lane and stop by the one and onlyCape Cod Beer, where you can enjoy a local pint in their newly developed ‘beer garden,’ equipped with their very own food truck, Cape Cod Dawgs.
While in the mid-Cape, take in an intimate concert at the historic Melody Tent, one of only two continuously operated tent theatres in the round in the United States, with national acts playing most nights. Head down 6A towards Chapin Beach in Dennis and stop by Chapin’s Beach Bar to enjoy their outdoor raw bar and casual atmosphere. Just down the road check out Gina’s by the Sea, an intimate historical gem, serving outstanding and affordable Italian food tucked away in the sand dunes.
Starting in South Dennis, hop on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, where you can cruise all the 25 miles to South Wellfleet. Stop at Guapo’s Tortilla Shack to refuel with a fish taco while soaking in their surf shack vibe. End up in Wellfleet where a visit to the Beachcomber is a must. There is nothing that says summer more than a day taking in the rays at Cahoon Hollow Beach and walking up the hill to dance the night away to the impressive musical acts that play nightly.
