There is no need to dream of going to New York, Paris or Milan when The Current Quarterly, Cape Cod’s first and only fashion magazine, is putting on Style Makers Month – their own version of a fashion week – a series of unique and fun fashion events across Cape Cod throughout the month of May.
The month includes local businesses, nonprofits, as well as local fashion designers, and begins May 4 with their 4th annual WE CAN Fashion Show at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, which starts at 5pm. The event includes a runway show of spring styles from local boutiques modeled by local women, as well as pop up shops where clothing, accessories, and other goods will be there to scoop up. Tickets are available for online purchase, as well as at the door.
On May 13, the CQ will host the opening night of “The Wedding” Exhibit at Centerville Historic Museum, which will feature wedding gowns from 1760’s to the present. The exhibit is sponsored by Sposabella Bridal, and the event, which is from 6-8pm, includes a wine tasting by Cape Cod Package Store. May 15 brings a Local Designer Fashion Showcase at Truro Vineyards, where six local designers will show their spring lines. On May 20, you can watch how a t-shirt gets made from start to finish at the Good Clothing Company. And on May 21, The Current Quarterly will host the red carpet at the 30th annual Figawi Charity Ball, where they will invite attendees to walk the red carpet, get interviewed and pose for photos in front of the step and repeat.
And all month people can visit local restaurants Embargo, Trevi Café , and the Naked Oyster to see how culinary arts meet the art of fashion; the chefs have provided a photo of one of their favorite dishes that inspired an outfit drawn by local illustrator, Amy Szep.
