Defining history, cultural trends and impacts of various events and eras depends heavily on maintaining oral recollections of many individuals and groups. NPR’s StoryCorps has been participating in recording people’s stories for years, and this Thanksgiving will partner with schools and other educational institutions to “preserve the voices and stories of an entire generation of Americans over a single holiday weekend…and to engage people of all ages in the act of listening.” The pilot project is specially designed for students ages 13 and over and as part of a social studies, history, civics, government, journalism, or political science class, or as an extracurricular activity, and can be completed using a smart phone.

But The Cape Cod Media Center will open its doors on Saturday, November 28 for The Great Thanksgiving Listen  from 11am – 3pm to record as many stories as they can for Cape Codders  who want a high quality recording or don’t have someone to interview them.

This is the perfect opportunity for different age groups of locals to share their stories so they will be kept and communicated for generations to come.
