Sounds of Summer

Cape Cod in the summer is busy to say the least, and so is the music scene. Experience these awesome shows at some of the most beautiful and unique music venues in…dare we say, the world!

Located on what feels like the edge of the earth along the Cape Cod National Seashore in North Truro, Payomet Performing Arts Center celebrates its 17th year of music, entertainment and theatre. Enjoy this month’s impressive lineup under the stars inside the tent with Mavis Staples (Thursday, August 6 ), Rickie Lee Jones, Arlo Guthrie and Darlene Love. Later in the month, catch the screening of Outermost Radio: The Film on August 20; proceeds benefit our beloved WOMR, which is chronicled in the film … Community Radio Rocks!

Get stomping at the 4th Annual Bluegrass on the Lawn at Falmouth’s Highfield Hall on August 10. This weekend’s concert features the Bluegrass Gospel Project joined by Boston-based band, Flatt Rabbit. Local food vendors and Cape Cod Beer will be available. Craving more bluegrass? Don’t miss Mandolin Orange at Truro Vineyards, presented by Vinegrass, for an intimate evening on August 14 … limited tickets available! {Be sure to save the date for the 2015 Vinegrass Music Festival on October 4.}

Get jazzy for a cause on August 25 when the Wequassett Jazz Festival Series hosts Sarah Swain and The Oh Boys! to benefit Cape Wellness Collaborative! Come early for the VIP reception and silent auction (contact the Wequassett for tickets) or come for the free show and rock out to the tunes on their beautiful Garden Terrace overlooking Pleasant Bay. The resort’s free concert series runs every Tuesday and Wednesday night through August, so there’s no reason not to go.

Any night of the week you’re sure to find the Cape’s summer breezes filled with live music – check LoveLiveLocal’s Facebook page every Friday afternoon for mentions of some of the local bands playing out. Now get out there and #loveLISTENlocal!
