The newest addition to the sandbar’s small but mighty food truck/trolley presence lives up to the hype, making chef-driven seafood on-the-go a reality. Tucked into a parking lot at 710 Route 28 in Harwich Port, with clear views of Saquatucket Harbor, the Salt Block Food Truck is inspired by the Cape Sea Grille. Both are owned by Chef Doug Ramler and his wife Jennifer, with a mission to showcase fresh, local seafood and high-quality meats.
At the Salt Block, every item brings forth a unique flavor profile. The Block Fries are a go-to item. Locals will declare the seafood chowder legit – no flour bombs here. Staples include fish, pork or chicken sandwiches and tacos. Look out for the awesome Asian Beef Taco and soft shell crab sandwich specials. And we hear the Salt Box can accommodate vegetarians, too (thank you!).
Stop in before or after your Nantucket day trip on the Freedom Cruise Line, or check out the CapeMade Field Guide for ideas on other local spots to visit while in the area. Find the latest Salt Block specials as well as hours, which vary seasonally, on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
