Off of Exit 12 in Orleans you will find some of the best that the Cape has to offer.
We recommend spending the morning on Nauset Beach, and eating your take out lunch from Jo Mama’s in the shaded gazebo.
Then take the afternoon to explore downtown Orleans, which has some of the best shopping on the Cape. On your way back from the beach hit up Weekend where you will find some of the most unique clothing, accessories, housewares and gifts. Then park on Main Street and walk to If the Shoe Fits, which has a fantastic selection of stylish shoes and clothing; to Savvy on Main to add great basics and fun jewelry to your wardrobe; and to Adlumia to see one of the most finely curated homegoods, furniture and gift stores on Cape Cod.
Watch the sunset on Rock Harbor, and then for dinner you must visit the newly opened Orleans Public House on Cove Road. It already has the feel of your favorite local spot with a laid back atmosphere, local art hanging on the walls, creative décor, and a large back deck for hanging and sipping craft brews (entirely undercover, so weather is not a factor). But the food certainly offers a fine dining experience. Chef Timothy Hopkins uses as many local and organic ingredients as he can on his original and eclectic menu. Rave reviews have been given to their Grilled Caesar Salad, Fried Calamari, and the “best Gnocchi ever.” The menu also offers a selection of sliders: veggie, lobster, or steak, on a housemade bun. Save room for dessert – specifically the Cacao Semifreddo – it is utopic.
