Mashpee Commons has been showing movies at the end of Market Street all summer long, from Eighties films likeGoonies to more modern young adult movies such as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The last movie in the 2013 series is the classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s set for Thursday, September 12 at 8:30pm. For Truman Capote and Audrey Hepburn fans, it is the perfect finale to this summer movie series.
There is plenty to do in the Commons prior to settling in for the movie. Pop in to Mocean, a great shop for outdoorsy people, yogis, kids and teenagers. Or head to Cutrona Studios, which is the perfect stop if you have an interest in contemporary art. They have openings for different artists the first Friday of every month, but the collections are up for viewing all month long.
If you are with the family or are in the mood for a good hearty Italian meal, head to Siena next door to the movie theater. For a more eclectic menu, go to Trevi Café and try the orzo salad, duck taco or the shaved Brussels sprouts. And for the more sophisticated diner, Bleu has a wide selection of meat, seafood and salads with a French flair.
After dinner, you can go to the newly opened Sweet Waves for a self-serve sweet treat. Here you have your choice of mixing and matching eighteen different flavors of frozen yogurt, and then adding candy, fruit and other unique toppings. If you are in the mood for straight candy or chocolate, try Ghelfi’s for their chocolate covered pretzels, peanut brittle or chocolate truffles
