Earth Day was established in 1970 as a way for Americans to recognize the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. Living on Cape Cod, where the love of the natural environment is what connects the community to this place and to each other, it is important to recognize this and to learn about how to minimize human impact on this fragile sandbar.
On Sunday, April 27 from 12-5pm, Green Drinks Cape Cod and Cape Cod Beer, now with LoveLiveLocal, will host their third Earth Day celebration now known as LoveEarth Fest. The event will feel similar to the LoveLocal Fests – a free, family-friendly afternoon of local food and beer – but the focus will be on local eco-conscious businesses and organizations, as well as green education.
Environmentally minded organizations such as the Northeast Organic Farming Association, theCape Cod Commission, and Slow Food Cape Cod will offer fun educational activities focused onsignificant environmental topics such as climate change, wastewater, energy conservation and waste reduction.
In addition, local green-minded businesses, such as Shift Eco Boutique, The Little Beach Gallery,Farm Fare Market, Bum Boosa Bamboo Products and Backyard Gardens will be on hand selling their environmentally friendly consumer goods, and explaining why they are better choice for the planet.
Local favorites including Smoke & Mirrors, Kathleen Healy, Jim Lough of Riley Coyote and Todd Nickerson of acoustic guitar duo 6 East will provide the soundtrack for LoveEarth Fest with performances throughout the day – paired with treats and eats from Fiddlestix Food Trolley, Something Sweet, The Local Scoop and more. And, of course, Cape Cod Beer will be on tap throughout the day!
