Local Hurricane Relief Efforts

hurricaneLocal police departments step up in more ways than one, and they do so for other communities in times of need as well. Our own Cape Cod PDs have joined forces with their counterparts in Florida to collect and send relief supplies for those affected by Hurricane Irma, the Category 5 storm that hit Florida and the Caribbean in mid-September causing damage and destruction in much of its wake.
They will collect the following supplies through Friday, October 6: baby formula, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, packages of unopened underwear, toilet paper, toothbrushes and toothpaste,  razors, hand-held can openers, cleaning supplies, school supplies, cat litter, pet food, first-aid kits and gift cards.

In addition to the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, nine local police departments are serving as drop-off points, including those in Sandwich, Bourne, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, and Wellfleet.
