How to Shop Local?

How to Shop Local?
a monthly Q & A with LoveLiveLocalOver the past
three years LoveLiveLocal has become a resource for Cape Codders who are wondering where they can purchase things locally. So, we’ll be answering questions each month in order to help our collective mission to put more of our dollars into the local community.

Summer is in full swing, and so it is not surprising that we were asked where one might be able to fill up their grill’s propane tank (at a locally owned establishment, of course).

Naturally, we sent them to the local hardware store for all of their practical grilling needs, but it got us to thinking about other outdoor entertaining needs from the grills themselves to outdoor tabletop accessories to the outdoor tables themselves.

The Cape is so fortunate to have Breakaway, a barbeque specialty store in both Mashpee and South Dennis. It is there you can find not only an extensive selection of name brand grills, but also replacement parts, fire pits, patio heaters, and outdoor cookers, as well as advice on how to grill the best burger!

Where can you find tabletop accessories that make outdoor entertaining functional and fun? We recommend checking out local kitchen supply stores like All Cape Cook’s Supply in Hyannis and Cape Cod Cookery in Centerville for paper napkin holders and all your necessary grilling utensils. Head to novelty shops like Allium in Hyannis, Modern Mix Giftery in Mashpee Commons, and Touche in Falmouth where you can find plastic reusable plates with personality and serving dishes with encouraging messages (think: Grill Master!).

As for the furniture that pulls everything together, Cape Leisure in Mashpee Commons and Casual Designs in both Harwich and Marstons Mills are locally owned options for finding patio furniture, outdoor seating and even hammocks.

And of course Snow’s Home and Garden in Orleans – the Cape’s one and only large department store – is your one-stop-shop for all of the above!
