We’ve got a line on a fun summer event for a worthy local cause. On August 17 from 6pm to 10pm, the Chatham VFW will come alive for the annualHookers Ball to benefit The Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance.
If you’ve ever enjoyed seafood on the Cape or care about sustaining our eco-system, supporting the CCCFA is an imperative. Formerly the Hook Fishermen’s Association, the group changed their name this year to better reflect their membership and objectives. Launched in 1991 by a group of local commercial fishermen who saw the need for better fisheries management, their work is focused on protecting fish and fishing for future generations.
The annual Hookers Ball is a Cape summer highlight, where you’ll find “fishing boots to ballgowns,” not to mention the finest raw bar and seafood around, surrounded by the very people who supply it. This year, in addition to the usual auctions, dancing, and dark ‘n stormies, we’ll be entertained by super-fun band The Boston Naturals.
Tickets are $150 ($200 for premium) and are available through Greater Giving. Get yours today and help the CCCFA raise more than $200,000 this year for economic development, ocean research and fisheries policy engagement. See you there!
