There is no need to look beyond Cape Cod to make fun, flashy or family-friendly New Year’s Eve plans, as there are plenty of options to celebrate the arrival of 2015 on this side of the bridge.
Buy a button and bring your family or gather a group of friends for First Night Chatham, a celebration of the arts with over 70 performances and events throughout the town of Chatham starting with the Town Photo at the Chatham Lighthouse at noon, and culminating with fireworks at Oyster Pond at midnight.
For a more condensed version of First Night, head to Sandwich for their 3rd annual celebration from 4 to 9pm. The event features an exhibit of 36 sculptures created by the owner of The Glass Studio, Michael Magyar, as well as live musical performances and activities for children. The grand finale will be the lighting of Magyar’s giant lighthouse at Town Hall Square.
You can make an entire night of it with the Sea Crest Hotel’s overnight New Year’s Eve package, which not only includes an overnight stay, two tickets to their semi-formal party, dinner buffet, dancing to Boston band The Marsels, and champagne toast at midnight, as well as breakfast on New Year’s Day.
There are also plenty of options for a festive evening at local restaurants and bars. The Brazilian Grill is hosting an evening of a special buffet dinner and live music. Embargo starts the night out with jazz and dinner specials; the dance party with DJ Liberty starts at 10pm. Harvest Gallery Wine Bar has local band Kite School playing into the New Year. Sarah Swain & the Oh Boys will be playing in Orleans at Joe’s Beach Bar, and Boombasnap at The Island Merchant in Hyannis.
Cheers to a happy, healthy and local New Year!
