Carousel of Light Food Truck Festival
Food trucks have been gracing city streets for years, and have recently popped-up here on the Cape. Some send out their up-to-the-minute locations via social media and some park at the same locations on a weekly basis to offer some consistency to their customers. Many will come together on May 18 at the Falmouth Harbor Marina Park for the Carousel of Light Food Truck Festival.
The lineup of food trucks includes those from all over Massachusetts, as well as local favorite Fiddlestix. They will offer a delicious selection of food including lobster, pasta, burritos, and cupcakes.
There is a cover charge of $10 (children 12 and under are free), which will go toward finding a permanent location for the operation of the locally designed and crafted Carousel of Light.
Long-time Falmouth resident and artist Lance Shinkle created the carousel over 20 years ago. After spending a few years in California, he decided to donate his unique hand-carved creation back to the community where it was created. The carousel will not only operate as an amusement ride, but also as a fundraising venue for other local nonprofits. The carousel consists of 20 horses, two wheelchair-accessible chariots, three sculptures and 12 colorful panels.
You can make a whole day of the food truck festival, or bring your bike to Falmouth, grab a bite to eat at the festival and make your way to the Shining Sea Bikeway, which offers every kind of view to be seen on Cape Cod. Or you can head to Spohr Gardens and walk the beautiful six acre woodland garden located on Oyster Pond.
