Cape Cod Beer
1336 Phinney’s Lane Hyannis, Ma.
April 21 from 11-4pm
Some may contend that “Earth Day is every day,” but just because you can all infuse some environmental values into your daily lives doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate and appreciate the Cape’s natural resources a little extra on one very special day: Earth Day, April 22.
That’s why Cape Cod Green Drinks, an eco-networking organization, is hosting a free Earth Day event on Sunday, April 21, from 11am-4pm, at Cape Cod Beer, 1336 Phinney’s Lane, Hyannis. The event is a fun and family-friendly way for people to learn more about green organizations and businesses on Cape Cod.
Local organizations providing instruction and entertainment throughout the day will focus on significant environmental topics such as wastewater, energy conservation and waste reduction.
Interactive educational activities will be provided for the younger crowd by Allyson Bizer-Knox of the Hoxie School in Bourne and the Barnstable United Destination ImagiNation team, who are headed to the GLOBAL tournament in Knoxville, TN in May with their project on recycling.
Demonstrations will also be given by the Cape Cod Eco Toilet Center, a newly formed organization that promotes the use of toilets that remove pollution – human waste – at the source.
No celebration would be complete without food, music and Cape Cod Beer. Fiddlestix Food Trolleywill be parked out front, and nibbles will be provided by Cape Cod Cranberry Harvest and Farm Fare Market. And you can all sing along to the sweet sounds of local musicians: Molly Parmenter, Todd Nickerson, Alicia Matthewson, and Brendan Princi. And, of course, taps filled with the Cape’s local brew will be flowing all day.
Looking for a different kind of Earth Day activity? Nauset Disposal is hosting an Earth Day Beach Clean Up at West Dennis Beach starting at 1pm.
