Dream Day on Cape Cod has been a “ray of sunshine” in the lives of seriously ill children for over seventeen years. The nonprofit organization serves families that have children with life-threatening illnesses and or serious conditions including cancer, HIV, sickle cell, and cerebral palsy by operating six sessions of family camp where families come down to the Cape for a week of fun and respite. Dream Day’s “hope is that families have the chance to create loving, lasting memories that transcend illness and struggle.” They are able to do archery, go on whale watches, swim, make s’mores and sing by the campfire.
In order to bring these countless families joy in the midst of sorrow, Dream Day largely depends on private donations and fundraisers, such as the Cape Cod Bass & Blue Fishing Tournament, the Dream Day Open Scramble Golf Tournament, and the Tour Da Cape Bike Race.
Local businesses like Power Yoga of Cape Cod also organize fundraisers for the organization. OnSunday, September 21 from 10:30am – 1:30pm PYCC will host their first-ever DREAM BIG Yogathon fundraiser at the Cape Cod Sea Camps in Brewster. Their goal is to raise $25,000 with attendees raising money individually and participating in a two-hour master yoga class taught by local instructors Jill Abraham, Leigh Hoenig Alberti, Mary Catherine Starr, Eric Clark, and Susannah van der Wende.
