From new, innovative restaurants to longtime favorites, Cape Cod’s food scene is reaching new levels – and many people aren’t aware of our breweries, vineyards and distillers! Take an afternoon or a whole weekend to experience them and see the Cape.
Founded just over a decade ago, Cape Cod Beer is at the heart of the Cape in more ways than one. Promising “A Vacation in Every Pint,” the beer can be found on tap and in the can at locations from Woods Hole to Provincetown. The brewery itself is a year round destination, with weekly events (such as Friday night Farmers’ Market / Happy Hour and cornhole tournaments), tours and tastings. Enjoy a pint at their outdoor beer garden (choose from Porter to Beach Blonde, seasonal brews, and everything in between) and a hot dog or waffle from the Cape Cod Dawgs truck.
Continue the mid-Cape portion of your tour with a trip to the Devil’s Purse Brewing tasting room in South Dennis. Named for the egg sac of a skate (find them all over our beaches), this new brewer is making a fast name for its variety of beers, including Surfman’s Check ESB and Skatemouth Pale Ale. Keep an eye on their social media pages for tour information!
Further down Cape, wine enthusiasts will love Harwich’s First Crush Winery, where you can take a tour and even become a co-op member, allowing special access to the winery, discounts on wine and unique winemaking experiences.
Nearby at Truro Vineyards and South Hollow Spirits, you’ll find a gorgeous setting for wine and rum tasting (they recently launched Twenty Boat Rum) plus the Crushpad, a fabulous food truck from the Blackfish kitchen. Their family friendly summer kick-off party is June 20 at 2pm!
Newer to the scene is Farmer Willie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer. Available this summer at local farmers’ markets and tasting events (listed on their site and social media), Farmer Willie’s will make a mixologist out of anyone – we see Dark ‘N Stormy’s, Moscow Mules and tiki drinks in our future. Want to attend the Cape Cod launch party, a beach bonfire in Truro on June 26? There are only 14 tickets left for friends of legal drinking age via their Kickstarter campaign at the time of this writing!
