Named after the trans-continental roadway that runs from California to Cape Cod, local acoustic guitar duo 6 East draws their inspiration from “the back roads of Americana music.”
Comprised of singer/songwriter pair Jonathan Soucy of Plymouth and Todd Nickerson of Barnstable, 6 East just released Rising, their second studio album. Available on iTunes, Rising is a confident, well-produced sophomore effort featuring the Cape’s Catie Flynn who lends her beautiful voice to a number of tracks.
The album balances heavier tunes like “Cold Steel Rail” and “Sacrifice” and the pleading “Be The One” with flirtier ones like “Let The Lovin’ In” and “Share The Wine,” all punctuated by summery tunes (“Coconut”, “Life Is Good”) that transport you straight to sunny days in the dunes.
A favorite act at our LoveLocal Fests, Jonathan and Todd also play solo and with local friends like Bruce Maclean, Kathleen Healy and Frank Consiglio at venues across the Cape, all year. Catch 6 East at Harvest Gallery Wine Bar in Dennis on March 15 at 7:30 pm, and follow them on Facebook for news on shows and a CD release party.
